Programme pillar 05

Government & Agency Connector

One channel between the freight sector and policymakers across both countries.

What it is

One channel between the freight sector and policymakers across Australia and New Zealand. The Council is mode, fuel and technology agnostic: it carries the sector's position on road, rail, maritime and air, and on every decarbonisation pathway.

What it covers

  • Member priorities carried into policy design, funding rounds and regulatory consultation.
  • Approvals, access and infrastructure rules raised as a single sector position across jurisdictions.
  • Alignment with national freight data and disclosure work as it develops.

Why it matters

Freight decarbonisation runs into rules written for other purposes: approvals, access, infrastructure standards and reporting obligations that differ by state and by mode. Operators meet them one at a time, at their own cost. The Council raises them as one sector position.
