Programme pillar 01
Training and plain-English guidance, so operators can measure and cut emissions without an in-house specialist.
Most freight operators do not have an emissions specialist, and will not hire one. Carbon literacy covers the working knowledge a transport or commercial team needs to read a carbon request, answer it accurately, and act on what it shows.
A tender question about emissions usually lands on a commercial manager. Where that knowledge is missing, the answer gets guessed or outsourced.
The other pillars
One consistent method across members, anchored to the GLEC Framework and ISO 14083.
03Chain-of-custody accounting, so a reduction can be issued by a carrier, transferred and claimed.
04Commissioned research into zero-emission technology, fuels and operating practice.
05One channel between the freight sector and policymakers across both countries.
